| Just what is this Artisan's Row thing, anyway? | |
| Originally conceived for Meridian Kingdom Arts and Sciences Fair 1999, the concept has grown in scope and size. | ![]() |
| Artisan’s Row is a place for artisans to come together, to teach through example. Who likes sitting through a one-hour class on how to do something, without actually being able to do the thing? Classes are only the beginning... We typically have Jewelers and Glass Bead Makers, Wood Wrights and Woodworkers, Spinners, Dyers, and Weavers, Brewers and Cooks, and much more. If you are interested in a subject, Artisan’s Row affords you the opportunity to actually spend time, watching and learning from someone who has done the research and is putting that research into practice. Our Artisans will give you the opportunity to use their tools and equipment to learn how to make something, as they would have done it in the Middle Ages. Sometimes there is a small fee associated with the hands-on lessons. Want to learn a substitute for soapstone, to be able to cast period-style Pilgrim Badges for event tokens? Want to learn how to put together a period 6-board box and then learn how to carve on that box? How about naturally dying your own wool, to spin and weave with? |

| Past Events There have been many events over the past seven years where an Artisan's Row type thing happened. I would love to see reports of these events, with pictures and all, either hosted on or linked to this site. If there is an event where artisan's came together and worked in a studio type setting, please let us know so that we can include it here. Gulf Wars XIV was very successful for Artisan's Row this year. We saw three peers made from our ranks (due in no small part to their participation in Artisan's Row) in the year between GWXIII and GWXIV. Border Raids 2005 Border Raids, the annual skirmish between the Kingdom of the Middle and the Kingdom of Meridies saw its first Artisan's Row this year. Check back here soon for pictures and a report of our activities. |
